For 36 years Dr. Lewis has operated a private practice of naturopathic medicine in Seattle and Monroe, Washington with an emphasis on physical medicine. For most of that time, before becoming President of the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians in 2006, he taught naturopathic medical students as an adjunct faculty member and clinical supervisor at Bastyr University. He served two terms as Chair of the University’s Department of Physical Medicine, a department which he created at the university in 1992. At Bastyr, Dr. Lewis taught courses in hydrotherapy and physiotherapy modalities, soft tissue manipulation, muscle energy techniques, joint manipulation, rheumatology, and orthopedics. He has also consulted and taught workshops in England and Ireland. A contributor to natural medicine guides and textbooks, Dr. Lewis’ writings include contributions to “Naturopathic Physical Medicine”, “The Textbook of Natural Medicine”, and “Alternative Medicine: The Definitive Guide,”as well as authorship of the book “Practical Hydrotherapy for the Whole Family.”Dr. Lewis earned his doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from The John Bastyr College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1987 before it became known as Bastyr University.

In December of 2012, after many years of work and planning, the Pacific Science Center opened a massive new 7000 square foot health and wellness exhibit. Dr. Lewis was involved in that project from concept to completion and is proud to see that it embodies many of the principles of naturopathic medicine that are the true future of health and wellness in America.
